1st Bryan Benwitz went 3-1 +306 to capture first place in the weekly standings. He was held to a low score of 326, nearly 100 points below his yearly average, in a loss against Sara McLaughlin (who scored 332 and played the only bingo of the game, PANINIS). However, Bryan internalized the anguish he felt from that poor showing and turned it into a pair of 500-point games, 514-283 against Dennis Lloyd and 503-425 against Thomas Reinke. Bryan played a total of seven bingos in that two-game stretch: RENEGADO, RUSTICS, OPIATES, AGONISES, PROTEIDE, UNWOOED, and ENTRAINS.
2nd Thomas Reinke went 3-1 +278, with his fourth-round loss to Bryan Benwitz being the only thing holding him back from an undefeated record. He notched his second-highest scoring game of this shorter-than-usual club season by defeating Helen Flores with a score of 563, playing bingos of MITIGATES, OCTAVES, and TINDERS in the process. Both Dennis Lloyd (424-463) and Charles Reinke (390-426) put up valiant fights against Thomas and his frenzy of bingos, but neither succeeded in felling him.
Dennis Lloyd got word of the week with SUCCORS, proving that having two C's doesn't always succ.
